Pet's Story:
I adopted Jolyn and Netty from TBBR when they were in heartworm treatment and they were sick for a while, but when the next checkup came around, they were heartworm free. TBBR got them in a truckload of dogs they received in the middle of the night from a shelter in a small Louisiana town and I was later given all their paperwork and medical records. Without TBBR accepting Jolyn and Netty and advertising to find them a home, and keeping them together as a bonded pair, I would never have found them and it's hard to imagine what would have happened to them. I know TBBR and their many volunteers love their dogs and they depend on donations to continue their valuable work. Netty andJolyn are mother and daughter, and mother, Netty, is the leader, but always waits for daughter Jolyn to follow, but sometimes Jolyn leads, and they are a team in every adventure. I was married last December and moved from a small home in the city to a large suburban home with a large yard. Before we got an invisible fence, they ran off under the traditional fence into the surrounding woods which has rabbits, etc., and my husband drove around in the woods till he saw them and they saw him and they started running home, together of course. Jolyn always comes when called, but then Netty will soon follow, and that kept them together and got them home back under the fence that day.
They are always eager to jump in the old truck back seat and ride with us an hour and a half to our lake house for a day or two. Who knew they were so good riding in a car? We found this out after I moved. The only thing is, we always stop at a drive-through on the way and they will bark loudly in unison at the drive-through window attendant. If I can get the attention of one of them to stop barking, then the other one will also stop. So we have learned how to use their bondedness to our advantage here. This photo was taken at the lake house. They are watching us fishing on the dock, which they aren't allowed close to because of gators and fish hooks and lake birds. They are curious and adventurous and have confronted a large turtle once or twice till I redirected them. Netty has bonded with my husband and loves him now, while Jolyn sticks close to me. I'm nearly out of space but just want to say thank you, TBBR, for the work you do and for rescuing Jolyn and Netty.
