Tattoo Story
We adopted Nakita in Germany in 1991 at 6 months old. Although she was clearly mistreated by a male in military uniform, she was docile with young children. She once allowed our 9mo son to literally crawl over her (Head to tail) while lying still, only getting up after he was finished. She easily mastered all the common skills and then some. She went jogging with me, camping with us and LOVED the water. She loved car rides, walks in the woods, playing catch with a ball, tug of war with a sock, sticks and "catching" water from a hose or sprinkler. Being a military family, Nakita was well travelled. She endured overseas flights & long road trips from Tucson to our next assignment. She moved to CA, back to Germany, then NM. Although Nakita grew to be protective of me and the children, she (mostly) got along with cats, hamsters and any animal she was introduced to. She was a lover, not a fighter. Her last move was to Hawaii where she had an unavoidable quarantine. After doing everything required to make it as short as possible ( a few weeks at that time), tragically, in 2003 at 12 yrs she passed away during that quarantine due to a twisted stomach. Oddly enough, I got this tattoo of Nakita in New Mexico shortly BEFORE moving to Hawaii in 2002. She was irreplaceable, loyal to a fault and such a good listener . We adored her... Aloha Nakita... RIP
