About Your Pet
Gertie is a female, Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is the absolute best dog and has been my loyal companion for 13 years. Gertie has gone through all of life's exciting moments with me, including being the flower girl in my wedding and snuggling up to my baby boys in their bassinet.
She continues to be an important presence in our lives as she travels with us, celebrates holidays and always watches over her little brothers (humans age 5 and 7). Her favorite place to visit is the beach where she loves to paddleboard, chase birds and live her best life. She also likes to visit cold climates where she feels a little more spry in her old age.
Gertie loves to hunt bugs and lizards and pretend that she's a huntress. She occasionally gets the zoomies and likes to wrestle, play tug of war and fetch, but only with her mommy. Gertie's favorite pastime however, is laying on the couch next to her humans. She gets comfortable and usually starts snoring after a few minutes unless she's in the mood for your undivided attention. In that case, she will paw you until you do whatever she wants.

Gertie deserves to be the next Tally Top Pet because she has improved the lives of many throughout our community by participating in Tallahassee Memorial's Animal Therapy program for the last 12 years. She is the sweetest and snuggliest dog with a magnetic personality. She can sense when someone feels down and lays next to them to provide comfort. She always ends her visits with her signature wave and favorite trick, bye-bye!
Gertie loves to listen to children read! She is a member of Tallahassee R.E.A.D.s!, a program of Intermountain Therapy Animals, that provides children in schools and libraries in our community and surrounding counties the chance to read to a therapy dog.
This seemed to be Gertie's destiny as she was named after a character from a Dr. Seuss book, Gertrude McFuzz. The story is about a bird that learns she is beautiful just the way she is. Gertie is indeed beautiful, along with being sassy, sweet and eager to please. The perfect formula for a furry best friend.
