Pet's Story or Bio
It was just another Saturday morning in late summer when our German Shepherd puppy went outside to go potty in our backyard. She immediately chased what we thought at the time was a squirrel up our cherry tree. After we got a better look, we noticed it was a cat. I told my husband, “We have to call the fire department- there’s a cat stuck in our tree.” He quickly responded, “This isn’t a movie, cats can climb down from trees.” So we went back inside to give the cat space and proceeded on with our day. When we returned home hours later, we noticed the cat was still in the tree. As I got closer, he looked right at me and meowed for help. That’s when we noticed how small he actually was. My husband quickly got the ladder and I grabbed gloves preparing to be clawed as we saved this kitten. But when I climbed up the ladder and reached out for him, he immediately started purring and calmly let me hold him. One of his eyes was completely swollen shut from a respiratory infection and he was under weight. We brought him to the Tacoma Humane Society where we learned that he was about 6 weeks old and less than 1.5 pounds. They fostered him back to health for 2 weeks before we brought him back to his furever home with his big German Shepherd sister (who was somewhat confused as to why we brought the demon squirrel into the house). Our Lucky Boy has been in our family since September 2022, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without him. He is the sweetest, most affectionate, social cat we’ve ever met. Even his big German Shepherd sister loves him dearly and now they spend most afternoons cuddling on the couch. We’re so grateful for the Tacoma Humane Society!
