Story or Bio
Katie Cunningham is a Great Falls native, born and raised in Great Falls she graduated from Great Falls High School in 2006 and completed college online while she worked as a whole sale manager for Checker Auto Parts.

Katie later chased her dream of becoming a police officer when she was hired by the Great Falls Police Department after working a short stent as a correctional officer for the Cascade County Detention Center. After taking the oath with the Great Falls Police Department in 2009 Katie worked in several Different capacities; she served as a K-9 Handler as she worked the streets with her dog “Oakley”, shE was a firearms instructor, physical fitness proctor, and was promoted to Master Police Officer in 2015.

Katie currently works as a detective for the Special Victims Unit where she investigates crimes against children. Katie can often be heard saying this position is the one in which she gets the most fulfillment and feels as though she can make a difference in our communities youth. Katie also serves as the President of the Great Falls Police Protective Association. In that role Katie often advocates for officers rights and helps organize out reach for underprivileged children’s programs such as Shop With A Cop.

Katie is also the president of the Dandelion Foundation, which is a home grown nonprofit committed to ending child abuse and domestic violence in our community through advocacy, education, and awareness. Katie is married to her husband, Caleb, and together they have two children. The couple will also soon be a licensed foster home and hope to adopt through the foster system.
