Pet's Story or BioThe journey that my little Leaf had before I adopted her is a story of courage and survival. My Leaf is a two year old tabby, who is partially blind. She was found in a tree near the Dallas SPCA. As a result, one of the staff members named her Leaf. I considered changing her name when I adopted her, but I never did because finding her in a tree, alone, confused, and scared is what ultimately brought us together. When I saw the sign "I am partially blind" outside her condo, I was curious to meet her. Upon meeting, Leaf licked my arm and showed off her extroverted personality. Leaf's zoomies make me smile and yearn to hold her when she is up on her hind legs, jumping for God-knows-what-reason at 3 a.m. When Leaf scratches the walls and doors, I laugh because she looks so cute! Leaf is very talkative—she is unafraid to tell me exactly what she wants and when she wants it. Leaf is especially playful at night when she looks for me and wants me to chase her. I exaggerate my baby talk with her, and she bolts to the patio! It is hilarious. Leaf is also my stalker, but that is not a crime. Leaf has known rejection and abandonment by being re-homed twice. By loving Leaf, I am learning to love myself. This blind kitty has opened my eyes to the meaning of empathy, patience, and unconditional love.
