Pet's Story or Bio
I adopted Jessie from the Dallas Animal Services shelter on Westmoreland Rd in July 2016. Her prison name was Lovely, and she is that. Jessie had been dumped on the streets of Dallas and was found as a stray. She was older and no longer a puppy; she also had heartworm, mange, and kennel cough. Because of all this and because she was not a puppy, she was never considered for adoption by anyone and was going to be euthanized like many other older animals. Sadly, there were many dogs in need of homes on the day I visited, but Jessie had shut down and seemed to be in the most urgent need. After several months of time, love, and veterinary care, Jessie fully recovered from her ordeal on the Dallas streets. She is the most appreciative, loving, and sweet dog, and I know she knows I saved her. Most canine diseases can be cured if treated in time, and so can emotional wounds, but they may take longer so adopters must have the time and patience. I wish more people would give older dogs a chance because what you see at the shelter is not who they truly are.
