Now in its forty-eighth year, the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival has gained a reputation for being one of the biggest and the best fiber festivals in the country, and even has an international following. Always held the first full weekend in May, the Festival offers more sheep and wool than you can possibly imagine, allowing attendees to discover the beauty of sheep, the warmth of wool and the delicious taste of lamb during a fun-filled weekend celebrating all things sheep, from hoof to handwoven. The in-person Festival normally features more than 600 sheep, sheep shows, sheep breeds display, parade of breeds, working sheepdog and sheep shearing demonstrations, sheep-to-shawl contest, fleece show and sale, workshops and seminars, special activities for kids, cooking demonstrations, food booths, musical entertainment, and over 275 vendors. While the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to move to an online format for 2020 and 2021, we look forward to returning to an in-person festival in 2022.
The Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival is presented by the Maryland Sheep Breeders Association, a 501(c)(5) agricultural organization. Donations are not tax-deductible.
