Grunting when he’s happy, especially in the bath

Pet's Story
Tonka was adopted from SD Humane’s Escondido campus. He had a minor crossbeak as a result of an injury and it was causing him to struggle to eat. He also had his tail feathers cut before he arrived at the shelter so he likely escaped a grim fate as bait for dog training. Tonka got a beak trim at my vet and within 3 days learned to eat on his own. He is now in my sanctuary aviary with my flock of 30 rescued pigeons, where he particularly enjoys sunbathing, baths and flirting with all the ladies. Pigeons are an intelligent, emotional animals who don’t deserve the bad PR they so often receive. I am delighted to have Tonka join Moose’s Flock Pigeon and Dove Rescue and to know that SD Humane accepts pigeons under their care.
