Pet's Story
For Easter I wanted a pet. I wanted a praying mantis so my aunt got me an egg sac of one. It took about a month to hatch. You can see 100-200 mantises. We fed them flightless fruit fleas and now they’re eating pinhead crickets. Some have shed and grown once and some have she’s twice. You can tell the females from their size and lines on their abdomens and smaller wings. We’re down to about 25 because they’re born cannibalistic. So we’ve had to separate as many as possible. She will be full grown after about 6 sheds and live about a year.
