Rules

• Online: To submit photos online, click on the Participate tab above and follow the directions to upload a photograph of your pet. Online entries must be received by Aug 31, 2019, 11:59:59 p.m. PDT.
• By mail: If you're mailing in your photo, we accept 4" x 6" prints in a horizontal format for design purposes. Mailed photos should be sent to: San Diego Humane Society, Attn: Philanthropy - Photo Fundraiser, 5500 Gaines St., San Diego, CA 92110. Please include an entry form with your photo. Entry forms can be downloaded from our website at sdhumane.org. Mailed entries must be received by Aug 31, 2019, 6 p.m. PDT.
• Hand delivery: Photo entries delivered in person should be brought to San Diego Humane Society's San Diego Campus at 5500 Gaines St., San Diego, CA 92110 during regular business hours. Hand delivered entries must be received by Aug 31, 2019, 6 p.m. PDT.
• The minimum donation for a photo to be included in San Diego Humane Society's photo fundraiser is $25 per photo entry. You may submit as many photographs as you like.
• All eligible photos with a minimum of 5 votes by the end of the contest will be guaranteed inclusion in the 2020 calendar, either in the collage pages or as insets within the calendar. Votes are $1 each.
• Donations are fully tax-deductible as permitted by law. San Diego Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All entrants will receive receipts for their contributions.

All photos become the property of San Diego Humane Society.

• Acceptable photo formats are .jpg, .bmp, .png, and .tif
• Photos sent by mail must be no larger than 4"x 6"
• Photos may contain one or more domestic pets

Photos must:

• Be high resolution (300 dpi minimum)
• Be in color
• Contain only domestic pets (no people or wildlife)
• Be horizontal (landscape) format
• Receive 5 votes or more for guaranteed inclusion in the 2020 calendar

Things to consider when choosing your photo:

• Please choose a photo with the highest resolution possible. Only photos able to be printed 11 x 8.5 inches with high quality resolution will be considered for model-of-the-month spreads.
• Any image that includes people, or content that is deemed inappropriate, indecent or obscene, as determined by the staff of San Diego Humane Society, will be removed from the Photo Fundraiser.
• Photographs may not be edited or altered (other than minor color, contrast, or sharpness adjustments).
• Photographs must either feature pets owned by the entrant, OR the entrant must have permission from the pet's owner to submit their pet's image.

• San Diego Humane Society's judging committee will give consideration to all submissions for various prominent locations throughout the calendar: 11 photos will be selected as full-month pages, and several dozen runners-up will be featured as inset squares for each month. All other eligible photo submissions that receive 5 votes or more will be included in collage pages.
• Participants selected as a full-page month winner will be notified and asked to provide a high resolution version of their photo, as well as a short biography of their pet, via email.

You can win special prizes by entering and voting for your pet's photo – and having your friends and family join in on the fun! The recipient of the most votes will be eligible to have their pet featured on a full month page (specific rules apply; alternative prizes will be offered).

• Once a photo is submitted, it will appear in the online gallery on San Diego Humane Society's website, and be open to voting by the general public. Votes are $1 each, with a minimum $5 donation for 5 votes.
• All votes for photo submissions will be tabulated and displayed online.
• To vote online, click on the Participate tab above. Donate a minimum of $5 for five votes. Those votes can then be cast for any submitted photo in one-vote increments. Voters do not have to use all of the votes at the time of donation. When voters donate, they will be given the option of applying all of the votes to one photo, spreading their votes over various photos, or storing votes in their account. If a voter chooses to store their votes, the voter can log into their account using their ID and password and vote at a later time. All votes must be applied to selected photos by the conclusion of the voting period to be counted. Votes cannot be applied to future contests. The online voting period will end Aug 31, 2019, 11:59:59 p.m. PDT.
• To vote by mail, mail-in votes should be sent to: San Diego Humane Society, Attn: Philanthropy - Photo Fundraiser, 5500 Gaines St., San Diego, CA 92110. Envelopes must include your phone number, a donation by check, the pet and entrant names and your written request to apply your enclosed donation towards votes for them in the 2020 Photo Fundraiser. Votes by mail must be received by San Diego Humane Society no later than Aug 31, 2019, 6 p.m. PDT.
• To vote by phone, please call 619-299-7012 ext. 2307 during regular office hours to vote by phone with a credit card. Votes by phone must be received by San Diego Humane Society no later than Aug 31, 2019, 6 p.m. PDT.
• Ending time for the Photo Fundraiser will be determined by the host website's server and will show prominently on the Photo Fundraiser website as a countdown clock on the last day of the fundraiser.
• The photograph with the most votes (donations) at the end of the submission period will win the voting portion of the Photo Fundraiser.
• All votes are donations to San Diego Humane Society and are fully tax-deductible as permitted by law. All donors will receive receipts for their contributions.
• Votes and entry fees are non-refundable.

The top 25 participants to receive the most votes when the voting period ends will be contacted by San Diego Humane Society to claim the following prizes:

1^st Place: Your beloved pet will be part of a specially arranged photo shoot for his or her "Model of the Month" feature in San Diego Humane Society's 2021 calendar,* Your pet's original photo submission will be featured as an inset on the back cover of the 2020 calendar,** AND you will receive two tickets to San Diego Humane Society's 34th annual Fur Ball gala in the fall of 2020.

2^nd Place: Your pet's photo submission will be featured as an inset on the back cover of the 2020 calendar** AND you will receive two tickets to San Diego Humane Society's 34th annual Fur Ball gala in the fall of 2020.

3^rd Place: Your pet's photo submission will be featured as an inset on the back cover of the 2020 calendar** AND you will receive one $50 gift certificate to Petco, plus a basket of SDHS logo gift items.

22 Runners-up: Your pet's photo will be placed either as an inset on a month spread, or prominently displayed on a special, one of a kind page for top vote-getters. You will also receive a special gift from San Diego Humane Society.

Additionally, all participants to achieve 200 votes or more for their photo entry will receive four complimentary copies of the 2020 calendar by mail in the fall.

All photo entries will receive a 2020 wall calendar by mail in the fall of 2019.

Prizes are not transferable and may not be redeemed for cash.

*A new color portrait will be taken of one domestic pet by a professional photographer chosen by San Diego Humane Society. The photograph will be taken at our San Diego Campus or a mutually agreed upon location, prior to May 2020. This photograph will become a month page in the 2021 wall calendar. San Diego Humane Society will determine the month which features this pet. A $100 Petco gift card will be offered to those who are not able to meet the requirements of the guidelines above.
