Entries
Each entry must include: a photograph, up to 25 words detailing the pet's story, background, or quirks, and up to 100 words answering the question "how does your pet enrich your life?".
Participants may submit photographs of any domestic pet species or breed.
A fee of $10 per entry is payable via the contest website.
Acceptable entries must:
Be uploaded via the contest website
Be in digital format, printed photos are not permitted
Be copyright free
Only include the pet being entered (no humans)
The submission period starts at 12:00:00 AM (E. Australia Time) on Wednesday, 05 January 2022 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (E. Australia Time) on Sunday, 23 January 2022.
This contest is a game of skill, and chance plays no part in determining the winner.
Participants may enter as many categories as they choose.
Participation is open only to Australian residents aged 18 years or older.
Once an entry is approved for submission, it will appear in the online gallery and will be open to voting by the general public.
Any photograph that includes content that is determined by the RSPCA judging panel to be inappropriate, offensive, indecent or obscene, or otherwise not appropriate for public display, will be disqualified from the contest. A decision to exclude a photograph entry is final and unreviewable. No refund will be provided to participants who have their photographs disqualified.
Animals must be depicted in a humane, comfortable, safe and dignified manner.
Photographs, which in the determination of the judging panel feature poor animal welfare, including but not limited to, aversive equipment (such as ‘choke' or correction collars, for example), inappropriate or dangerous situations, or animals looking uncomfortable/stressed, will be disqualified from the contest.
Any dress-ups or costumes must allow the animal to move freely and exhibit normal behaviours. RSPCA refers participants to its guide on animal welfare risks associated with costumes, available
here.
Voting
Each $1 donation counts as one (1) vote, and there is no limit to the number of votes an individual may cast during the contest.
A participant may vote for their own entry.
Neither the entry fee nor donations are refundable. Entries and donations must be made via the online contest page.
The voting period starts at 12:00:00 AM (E. Australia Time) on Wednesday, 05 January 2022 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (E. Australia Time) on Sunday, 23 January 2022.
The top five (5) participants with the highest votes in each category will form the group of finalists that progress to the judging panel.
Judging & Prizes
The top five (5) participants with the highest votes in each category will progress to the finalist round, where a panel of judges designated by RSPCA will determine the overall contest winner. Vote counts do not determine the overall contest winner.
The top twenty (20) participants which form the finalists will be chosen by the general public via voting, not RSPCA
Once in the final round, the RSPCA voting panel will decide the one (1) overall winner based on the following criteria:
Quality of the entry photograph
Detail of the pet's story, background or quirks
Response to the question "how does your pet enrich your life?"
The judges' decision is subjective, final and will not be reviewed
The one (1) overall contest winner will receive a major prize of: A family set of bespoke Peter Alexander pyjamas featuring their pet in the design
Three (3) additional minor prizes will be awarded at judges' discretion
The prize recipients will be notified by email and will have until February 7, 2022 to respond and claim the prize. If the prize winners do not claim the prize by this date, the winner will forfeit the prize and an alternate winner will be selected.
