Regardless of the size or abilities your dog may have, they can be a hero by helping raise money for disabled American Veterans and first responders. Here's an amazing opportunity for you to showcase your pet's cuteness and help a noble cause at the same time. In partnership with Paws Cause Pet Photography, we are excited to announce the 2026 Hero Dogs Calendar Contest. Show us your precious pet, and you'll not only be raising money for RRUFF Healing Heroes but also have the chance to win some cool swag.
Choose a favorite photo of your pet(s) and ask your family and friends to vote for them. Please review the Contest Rules carefully for submission guidelines; those not following these rules will not be eligible to win. Fees for photo entries and votes will help RRUFF continue helping disabled veterans, first responders, and their pets.
Proceeds from the sale of the calendar and photo contest will allow us to fund the cost-of-service dog training classes for Disabled American Veterans and First Responders with Post-Traumatic Stress and other invisible disabilities.
Grand Prize
- The winners of the photo contest will be determined by the top 12 entrants that get the most votes.
- The top winner will win the coveted cover photo for the 2026 calendar and a month. 2nd- 12th place winners will have their pet featured as a pet of the month.
- The top 12 vote getters will have their pet professionally photographed at no cost to them by Paws Cause Pet Photography for the 2026 calendar.
- All winners will have the opportunity to purchase products and images following their session, if desired.
- *If your pet is one of the 12 to be photographed for the calendar, you must be able to bring your pet to Paws Cause Pet Photography at a pre-selected location in the greater Sacramento/Rocklin area during May-Sept 2024 for a professional on-location photo session. If you are unable to commit to a photo session during those times or find yourself unable to travel to these pre-selected locations, you forfeit your winning and the next top vote getter will take your pet's spot in the calendar, no exceptions.

Reserve a Spot in the Calendar:
- Want a guaranteed spot in the calendar? Consider a “Reserve a Square” spot. You can add your pet’s image to empty grid squares at the beginning and end of each month.
- Honor your pet who has passed or celebrate a gotcha-day or birthday by reserving an empty grid space (before or after the numbered squares) for their photo. Choose a favorite photo, a month, and pay. Grid images will be cropped to a square ratio, so please be mindful of that when choosing your photo. Each month has a limited number of squares in each grid and will be filled on a first come, first served basis; don't delay! Each grid space is just $10.
