We agonized about getting a second dog. We already had an ailing 16 year old dachshund who liked to sleep all day undisturbed. Would a puppy push him over the edge or pull him back from the brink? As it turned out, Gus gave Gunther a new lease on life, and the old man lived on gamely for another couple of years. The addition of Gus to the household was a blessing for both us and Gunther.
