In 2008, A Jack Russell Terrier was picked up by Rochester animal control and brought to the Animal Hospital of Pittsford for medical attention. She weighed only 6.8 pounds, and was so emaciated that you could see her ribs. She was also in dire need of dental care and needed to be spayed. Because of her spunk and vigor, the veterinarians and staff at the Animal Hospital of Pittsford wanted to give this pet hope and a chance at life. They donated the services and care needed to heal the little dog, dubbed “Hope” by the staff at the animal hospital, who then went on to find a loving home. Inspired by “Hope”, the shareholders of Monroe Veterinary Associates had a vision to develop a foundation that could help more animals in the Rochester area: The MVA “Hope” Foundation. In 2012, The MVA Hope Foundation was renamed Rochester Hope for Pets so the foundation could broaden the reach outside of the MVA network.
Our resources provide the necessary funds to help families who are struggling to keep their pets in their homes instead of being relinquished to animal shelters. We do this by providing funds to families who need veterinary care and linking them up with other local and national resources.
Our Spay-It-Forward program helps prevent the overpopulation of unsterilized animals, and provides funding for low cost spay and neuter services with our partner hospital, Rochester Community Animal Clinic. Our Milly’s Mission program provides funds for life-saving emergency services for dogs, and our Bruno’s Blessings program provides funds for senior dogs who might have been overlooked due to their age.
By supporting Rochester Hope for Pets, you are helping pets in our community live happy, healthy lives with their loving families. We do not receive any money from the government, and rely on the support of people like you for the success of our programs.
