HEY, I’m Porter! I was rescued off the streets of Orangeburg SC in 2017 by a group of ladies who gained my trust with hot dogs. They gave me a bath and brought me to a brewery one afternoon. That is where I met my parents and brother, Murph. I was so scared that I would not get off the grass. When we got home that night, I had a nice dinner but then I ran away. If you live in Wagener Terrace, you probably saw all the flyers my parents and friends put up. After a couple of days, I was found relaxing on the neighbors deck where my mom and uncle picked me up. I hung around the house for the weekend but I was still very shy and scared. On Sunday afternoon I ran away again. My mom was given the advice to put blankets outside for me to smell my way home. I came home at 3AM jumping on the front door to be let inside. To this day I haven’t left their side. Murph told me it would take time to get comfortable but everyone loved me and I was going to have a great life. Now I enjoy going to the beach, brittlebank park, the barrel, and camping. I share my story because I want all dogs to have a loving home and know that at first it is OK to be scared but that your family loves you.
