Dawson was a rescue. He had been a stud dog in South Carolina and was retired. He was my first opportunity to have a Standard Poodle. For 40 years we had had English Bulldogs which we loved, however, they did not have the intelligence of the Standard Poodle breed. Dawson was the "perfect" pet and best companion after the loss of my husband.... Dawson loved to walk with me, and had an extremely sweet disposition. He slept with the two household cats and loved his elephant toy. Dawson met with a tragic death and we still mourn his loss. Lydia, who is also in this contest, has followed Dawson in my heart though I fear I may be overprotective of her because of Dawson's loss, But no animal can have too much love. Right?
