Penny was found wandering the woods around Heber Springs, AR and was turned over to Heber Springs Humane Society.
My husband and I, both retired, went looking for a rescue as I was facing treatments for Leukemia. I needed a sweet companion to be my close friend and support for what I was facing in the months and years ahead.

We saw Penny in the corner of her enclosure with those big eyes! She was scared, her hair was overgrown, and she needed love. We brought her home and cannot understand anyone letting a young dog like this go.

Penny has been ours for 4 years,
and I have been in remission
over 3 years following Bone Marrow Transplants! This sweet dog gave endless love to both my husband and myself through a long and difficult time. We cant imagine our home without this precious furbaby.

I am a retired public school art teacher, and I painted this acrylic painting of Penny to show her beautiful eyes and long lashes, and the love and devotion that shines through.
