Munchkin was discarded by his breeder as he was born with a deformed back leg with only 2 toes on it. He was taken in by Forgotten Dogs and listed on Petfinder. I noticed him on Petfinder after losing my 13 year old Pom. I was grieving but wanted to save another dog and provide a good home for a dog that needed one.

I was lucky enough to adopt Munchkin and contacted his foster mom to tell her he was very happy but didn't hear back. Two weeks later I found out she had a fire that destroyed her home killing her dogs and her fosters. She was devastated. Munchkin's foster mom told me that I had rescued Munchkin twice. Once by giving him a forever home and by adopting him a couple of days before the fire.

At the time I was also waiting for the results of a biopsy to find out if I had cancer (I did). Munchkin saved me by keeping my spirits up as I survived. I tell Munchkin all the time that he was MEANT to be my dog. We saved each other. He tells me he agrees.
