When we adopted Mosey (White and Brown) he was almost 5 months old. We had an older cat (Ethel, front of the picture, sadly now RIP) that mothered him but didn't play. He wondered around our apartment dragging a stuffed animal crying. He would leave the animal by the food, by the litter, by his toys. Mosey was lonely. When Mosey was almost a year we adopted Ruben (darker cat, in back of picture), who was 10 weeks old. Mosey was so happy to have a playmate. Ethel mothered them both and they definitely act like brothers!
