Appa was brought home at 6 weeks old.
Appa brought more than just joy and excitement to the family, but he also brought hope for his older sister, Maka.
Maka was adopted from the Humane Society after being abused and a stray for three years.
As Appa was brought home, he immediately grew attached to Maka at first sight. With daily exposure to each other Maka's personality grew out of her confined shell. Appa learned what was good and what was bad behavior.
Looking at this picture to most may just be a cute little puppy. To me, it stands for happiness and hope.
