Maka was found on the streets and then housed at the Hawai'i Humane Society. When she was first brought home, she was afraid of every human and animal. At times, when I would be carrying a box, broom, or trash bag, she would put her head down bracing herself as if expecting to get hit.
When Appa joined the family Maka walked up to Appa, and began to slowly play with him. After an hour of playing, I found them lying down next to each other. Before I knew it, they were sound asleep right next to each other.
All I could say was, "photo op!"
