I found Gunnar after a two year search on petfinder. I am a divorced woman living alone with anxiety issues. My dachshund Ralph had died 2 years ago. I am often lonely, especially at night time as I was used to having the comforting presence of my dog next to me. My previous dog was very cuddly, and knew when I was having anxiety or restlessness. Gunnar had been found wandering the streets, was dirty and emaciated. His profile name was "Dapper Dan" as he was a dapple dachshund. They said he is as skinny as he is cute and needs some good food. I saw his picture and something about him struck a cord with me. I left work early and drove an hour away to get him. When they took him out of his cage I just knew he was the one. He sat on my lap all the way home and has been there every since! Each morning (generally when I have my anxiety issues) I am awakened by a soft nose that touches me all over gently waking me and letting him know I am there. Taking care of Gunnar , helps me to forget and ignore my anxieties. He get me loves unconditionally and that is the best medicine ever! He makes life worth getting up for in the morning. Everyone says he is lucky to have me, but I say I am the luckiest of all.
