From what organization or individual was your pet adopted/rescued/purchasedRescued: Foster parents located in Staten Island, NY. Feral cat Lily was transported to Colorado via Underground Railroad Rescue (URRKN) in Oct 2013.
How does this photo represent the theme – Life is Better Together?Lily (aka Momma Littlenose), a 12 month old feral cat in Staten Island, NY, gave birth to 3 kittens on April 6, 2013. Within minutes of birth, all were rescued by 2 caring people. In hopes of getting the momma and kittens adopted, a Facebook page (Kittens Need Forever Home-Momma Littlenose) was created—complete with a live video stream. Littlenose and her babies became quite popular and soon had a global following; people from around the world came together to help the foster parents care for these kittens. Help consisted not only of words of encouragement and advise but also through donations of cash, food, litter, and toys to help the foster parents care for this feral momma and her litter.
After weeks of watching Littlenose and her kittens, it was love for all of them, but especially for Momma Littlenose. I knew that some how, some way, Littlenose would spend the rest of her life with me, in Boulder, CO. The challenge was now to figure out a way to make that happen. After numerous contacts with the foster parents—and much late night research—I discovered a wonderful non-profit, donation based, volunteer pet transport organization called The Underground Railroad Rescue Kitty Network (URRKN). After contacting them, filing paperwork, and interviews, the transport from Staten Island to Boulder took place. Thanks to dozens of volunteers, Littlenose arrived at her forever home on October 12, 2013.
This photo of Lily, comfortable in her forever home, epitomizes the power of together.
