Pet's Story or Bio
We agreed to foster Mattie sight unseen about a year and a half ago. Like many shelter animals she had been let down by people in the past. She had severe storm anxiety and being in a shelter environment was simply too overwhelming for her. She needed constant monitoring. With help and advice from the PAWS staff and a terrific vet I worked with Mattie and helped her learn to trust, to find some outlets for her anxiety and learn to be free to enjoy doghood. She is the perfect dog I never would have known if not for fostering and we officially adopted her on my birthday in September 2018. Mattie came into my life and taught me more about patience and trust and love than I can even begin to describe here. Working with her on her fears and anxiety helped me see and deal with my own issues. Mattie is my best friend, my daily running buddy, my cuddle-bug, my co-captain on the boat and a constant source of amusement when she turns on her goofy side. I am a better person for having her in my life and cannot imagine a world without this special beautiful soul in it.
