Fierce little oops dove child Fletcher, shown here cocked & ready to give me double-wing-whacks, gave me a true shock when I discovered him as a week old nestling! I checked the foster doves’ nest frequently & had swapped out 3 real eggs for fakes but totally missed him. For a week! I PREACH hatch prevention & I am very NOSY about what birds in my care are sitting on, checking often, but even so, Fletcher beat me.
