Ziggy (fka Bach) was afraid of everything when he arrived. I was forewarned. I had adopted a lab mix who was a nervous wreck, and she was healed with TLC within 2 weeks, and I was expecting about the same.

Not Ziggy! I had to be very careful how I did things with him.
If he was scared, it would be that way forever. If he was startled outside, it took weeks before he would willingly go outside. His safe place is still my bedroom, although he doesn't go there nearly as often.

But the journey has been worthwhile. It took almost a year before he learned that the world was not ALL such a frightening place. We have such a strong bond because of the special attention he needed. He still looks to me for reassurance, just not as frequently. Sometimes I wonder whatever
happened to this little guy in his former life...most of the time I realize I wouldn't want to know.
