Founded in 2000Our Mission:
The Oswego County Humane Society provides programs and services that preserve and strengthen the bond between people and animals.
Programs and Services:
Spay/Neuter Programs and Services- Every pet we adopt out is spayed or neutered.
- Our in-house clinic offers low-cost spay/neuter for cats in low income households in Oswego County. Dogs in our program are spayed/neutered at local veterinarians.
Animal Services- We maintain a network of foster families who care for and socialize homeless animals until they are adopted into approved homes.
- We provide connections with both families looking to re home and adopt animals, creating a safe transition of ownership
Pet Food Pantry- We operate a Pantry full of animal food and supplies that is stocked by donations
- We provide supplies to families who are facing financial difficulties and may be unable to fully provide for their pets.
Community Education- We publish 3 to 4 newsletters each year with animal welfare and animal care articles and news about the Oswego County Humane Society.
- We developed a coloring book for children about dog safety, "Be Safe with Your Best Friend." (Available for free! Contact us to get one today.
- We provide public presentations for area schools and youth groups promoting proper pet care and dog bite prevention.
- We work with individual pet owners to educate about and enhance human/animal relationships, with a goal of preventing surrenders of pets.
- We answer hundreds of phone calls every year with questions about animal-related services, programs and resources.
