Oregon Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It is also a no-kill shelter, so the dogs stay at the facility until they find their families. The group was started in 2007 by two women who, at the time, had 12 years of combined rescue experience. Our dogs come from overcrowded local shelters, owners who can no longer keep their dogs (following an evaluation), and from high-kill shelters all over the West Coast. Our facility is in Portland and can accommodate up to 120 dogs at a time. We have a small staff consisting of 6 full-time employees, 15 part-time employees and a core group of 50 volunteers that assist in keeping the facility clean, dogs cared-for and facilitate intake of over 200 dogs a month.
