Pet's Age14
Pet's Story or BioIggy came to us in 2018 from the Toronto Humane Society, joined by her bonded friend, Gidget. We don't know too much about their past, only that their previous owner had sadly passed. It took Iggy a few days to come out of her shell (and Gidget considerably more time) - but when she did, she showed us just how big her personality is. She is the most vocal cat we have ever known! (On one occasion she scared the life out of our cat-sitter who thought there was a crying baby in the house!). Iggy loves to carry her toys around the house, accompanied by the loudest wailing "squawks" - and often leaves us a trail of gifts to follow through the house in the morning!
Last year we learned that Iggy has non-regenerative kidney failure. To say that we were devastated would be a huge understatement. Thankfully we were given expert advice early enough, and we are able to manage the disease through regular subcutaneous fluids, special diet, and lots of love (which we believe has been the support she needs). Our little, noisy, toy-hunting lap cat has absolutely changed our world - we can't even remember what life was like before her. She's a little fighter and we are very hopeful we'll get to receive her gifts (and love) for a few more years yet!
