My NICU Graduate's Journey
Jack was born prematurely by cesarean section. At birth, his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times and he was not able to breath fully on his own. He was immediately taken to NICU where he was put on a CPAP for 48 hours until he was able to be taken off. Jack then had trouble keeping his blood sugars up and was checked every 3 hours until he was able to hold them stable on his own. Just before discharge his bloodwork came back that he had hyperbilirubinemia, before discharging they did an ultrasound to ensure his gallbladder, liver and biliary system were healthy. After discharge Jack continued outpatient treatment which involved blood work once a week, a pediatrician visit once a week, a GI specialist visit, and another full belly ultrasound all within his first 2 months of life

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
I am proud of everything my little miracle baby has accomplished in his short time with us. The fight and courage in this little boy could move mountains.
