NICU Hospital for my journeyKaiser Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyBrookston is our miracle. Born with two blood infections, fighting for his life. His was in the NICU for 75 days. What a rollercoaster that was, but to see this little being with as much strength as he has.. was truly amazing. The blood infections He had were Staph and ecoli which caused the loss of one eye and impaired the other, surgery at 34 weeks the doctors were able to “save” one eye but still has impairments. The antibiotics caused hearing impairment, he wears a hearing aid in one ear but the other is “normal”. And the lack of oxygen caused Cerebral Palsy diagnosis, and CVI. We are still learning the effects as our baby boy grows but Through it all we remain in awe of his continued strength and hard work. He works hard everyday, literally! He is in all the therapies and is doing so well! We are truly Blessed with the most perfect child! Today he is crawling, pulling to stand, his vision has improvements and he’s learned some ASL. He is so smiley and giggly now, and it’s such a wonderful sound.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? He had so much strength, and he works hard daily to gain improvement. It’s not easy, he may always have to work harder than others but I know he can do it, it’s apart of him. I seen his strength right from the start.
