NICU Hospital for my journeyTriStar Centennial
My NICU Graduate's JourneyOur fraternal twins were born at 31 weeks at 3.7 lbs and 3.4 lbs. Initially Cooper (twin A boy) was intubated and Kodi (twin B girl) had a C-Pap machine to help them breathe and both had NG tubes for nutrition. After a few weeks working on gaining weight and weaning off the breathing machines, they got to attempt breastfeeding and bottles. We drove an hour to and from the hospital every single day they were in the hospital. 4,500+ miles out on our car, driving time 2+ hours each day. Kodi got to come home after 42 days in the NICU and Cooper got to come home after 45 days. It was a very scary experience, but amazing to see how far medicine has come to help babies like ours. They look so tiny and fragile but somehow they felt so strong and mighty at the same time. Today, they’re 4 months old, 7 weeks adjusted and they are thriving! They love watching their big brother and we are all so in love with them.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Being a twin mom is something to be proud of but watching my babies grow and thrive everyday is amazing. I am so blessed to be their mama. They make my day brighter everyday, even with the lack of sleep! Overall just seeing all the obstacle and how far they have come makes me proud.
