My NICU Graduate's Journey
After my water broke at 33+5, we spent 8 days in the hospital keeping mister Maverick in utero as long as possible. At 34+5 his heart rate started having decelerations, and so I was induced. After laboring for 24 hours, I was rushed into an emergency C-section when his heart rate kept flatlining during contractions. He was born at 34+6 days, and he was in the NICU for 19 days while he learned to breathe and eat on his own. He came home at 37+3 days.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
After 6 months he is nearly caught-up with his full term peers. He’s small size hasn’t kept him from hitting milestones; he’s currently showing signs of being on track for crawling and walking. He has a smile that will make him everyone’s favorite as he grows bigger and stronger.
