My NICU Graduate's Journey
No matter how short a NICU stay might be, it is still an unexpected turn of events for most. This is exactly how we unexpectedly ended up in the NICU the 2nd time with, Tinsley.
She came into the world fighting after an unexpected turn of events during delivery. She was whisked away to the NICU where she under went cooling therapy to help prevent any further brain damage that might have possibly taken place during delivery where she was without oxygen for a short period of time.
The first 3 days of life in the NICU were so hard as she was going through the cooling process. She didn't move much, and we weren't able to hold her just yet. During this time, they were monitoring her brain activity which thankfully looked normal and after further testing and scans, we were able to celebrate even more knowing that there weren't any signs of brain damage.
Tinsley spent 1 week in the NICU, and even though the time was short, it was still emotionally taxing knowing that things could have easily gone a different way.
She is now 16 months old and enjoys spending time with her big sister who was also a NICU baby. She enjoys listening to music, being outside in nature, coloring with chalk & cuddling with her dog Dolce.
We thank God everyday for our outcome, because we know just how easy things could have turned out completely different for us.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
The thing that makes me the proudest of my NICU graduate is her fearlessness and eagerness to try new things. It has been such a joy watching her grow and figure out little things on her own. I love the curiosity she has for the world.
