My NICU Graduate's JourneyRemington came in the the world on April 12, 2017 in San Antonio. He arrived at 27 weeks and weighed 2.7 pounds. With the unwavering support from our family, friends and the amazing medical care in the NICU. Remington’s journey presented him with many challenges a bipap machine, intubated several times, a perforated bowel and iliostomy after a few days of life. He had many heel pokes, feeding tubes, alarms constantly going off, and learning to breath and eat on his own. He had many close calls but his determination to live over came everyone of them. Hands to Hold provided all the babies with love and support. After being discharged in July from the NICU Remington’s first stop was to see his Great Grandparent’s.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Remington brings such joy to our lives and makes us proud everyday. He is strong physically and emotionally. He has a type of emotional strength that is so special. Remington likes being the eldest child. He is loving, kind and compassionate. However, he likes being in charge and expects his siblings to follow his lead. He’s learning to live by the golden rule. Remington likes to find new ways of doing things. He has an agile mind, and is not afraid to challenge the status quo.
