NICU Hospital for my journeyKaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyRoy was born spontaneous preterm labor at 30w3d. Mom was fully dilated upon arrive and Roy was sideways and required an emergency c-section. He spent 7w in the NICU and is now a thriving 3yo (95% for height). We would be completely lost without the support of the NICU team during those difficult first moments. We are forever grateful.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Roy is amazing! He's an empathetic and caring soul. Like most NICU babies he slept through the night quickly. I'm proud of how he's handled this past year. We had another baby born in the same fashion who survived 2d before passing. Healthy, just born too soon. Mom was asleep diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Through it all, Roy's be very gentle as mom recovers from an aggressive c-section, the loss of a baby, loss of fertility, ankle surgery to remove cancer. He's known at school for giving the best hugs.
