NICU Hospital for my journey
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital

My NICU Graduate's Journey
When Roman was born, he was immediately sent to the NICU because he was having seizures. We spent over a month in the NICU to try and control his seizures. We were in and out of hospitals, and eventually landed at LPCH and were admitted for two months because his seizures would happen every day, even after we were released from the NICU. Lucile Packard had helped us diagnose he was born with PDE (Pyridoxine Deficiency Epilepsy), a rare case of epilepsy with only about 100 cases known world wide. It’s been a long hard journey of discovery and medical practice to finally control his seizures, but we are approaching over a year and half of being completely seizure free!

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
What makes us most proud of our NICU graduate is that same fighter spirit Roman had when he was born still remains today. As he goes through different challenges, monthly lab draws, therapy twice a week, he continues to reach milestones each day, he approaches them head on and with success.
