NICU Hospital for my journeyDavis Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyHe was born at 27 weeks weighing 1lb 15oz. His heart continued to stop, so they life flighted him from Davis Medical Center to Primary Children's. They found a heart defect. After giving him a trach, he was transferred to a long term care center until he was big enough for his surgery. At 9 months, he received his surgery and got to come home! At 3, he was off the ventilator and his trach was removed. He has a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy and a g-tube that we hope to have removed by 2025. He is scheduled to have surgery to hopefully repair the damaged nerve of his left vocal cord. Despite physical, emotional, and mental limitations, he is a happy boy and full of life! I'm am grateful for every day I get to spend with him.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Despite all the pain and trials this sweet boy has experienced in short life, he remains strong, happy, kind, and helpful. He is a wonderful big and little brother. He makes everyone around him smile with his energy and excitement. We can all learn how to face our own trials by following his example.
