My NICU Graduate's Journey
Liliana was born at 32 weeks. She was immediately transported to the NICU. She was in the NICU for 42 days. She was back in the hospital twice after that to figure out issues with eating and gaining weight. She had two minor surgeries and was continually pulling out her feeding tube. She is now 16 months old and cruising everywhere. Currently, she has a feeding tube, but she’s gaining weight and close to walking. She’s slowing eating more food by mouth and meeting milestones.


What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
I’m proud that she is able to gain weight. I love how she’s trying to eat and drink more by mouth. After getting glasses, I’m proud that she’s keeping them on. She is trying to walk and talk which makes me proud of how far she’s come and how far she will continue to go.
