My NICU Graduate's Journey
Michael was an emergency delivery, born while we were out of state at Rehoboth Beach, DE. Luckily, we were transferred to Christiana Hospital, where he was delivered at 27 weeks, 5 days, weighing 2lbs 7oz due to a placenta accreta. He was a NICU warrior, tiny but mighty, fighting through an infection and every phase of development as he learned to breath on his own and how to feed from a bottle. He was transferred to Frederick Health Hospital so we could be closer to home, spending a total of 89 days between the 2 hospitals. He was fortunate to receive the warmest and kindest medical care from both hospitals. We are forever grateful to both hospitals for saving both mother and son and providing our sweet boy with the best care.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
He is such a happy baby! He loves to smile and explore his surroundings. He is doing wonderfully and loves to stand and bounce, laughing most of the time. We couldn’t imagine life without him!
