NICU Hospital for my journeyChildren’s Hospital Orange County
My NICU Graduate's JourneyMy pregnancy was a very difficult one. I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa, vasa previa, hypertension and gestational diabetes. All the odds were against me. I was admitted to hospital at 29 weeks due to preeclampsia that had my blood pressure in the high 160s/100. I stayed admitted until delivery at 33 weeks that was an emergency c section due to dangerously high blood pressure that forced me to be out on magnesium. Doctors had a hard time removing the placenta during the procedure which resulted in a longer than expected c section. Once out Ava was not breathing and had to be bagged. She was intubated for about 48 hours. She spent a month in the NICU to grow, feed and overcome her jaundice. She is doing great now and loves being around her brother who is also a NICU graduate. Yay Ava!!
