NICU Hospital for my journeyChildren's Hospital of Pittsburgh
My NICU Graduate's JourneyShe was born at 30 weeks with a birth defect called an omphalocele (her abdominal organs were outside her body- small intestine, liver, spleen, stomach, gallbladder, and part of her appendix). She was given a 0% chance of survival at birth. But she made it!!! She came home with a trach, vent, oxygen, feeding tube, etc. She had 4 surgeries to fix her omphalocele plus 7 other major surgeries. She has had more tests and other procedures than I can even count. She has been through more in her 14 years than most people will ever go through in their entire lives. She has overcome every hurdle ever placed in front of her!
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Everything makes me proud of her! She is one of the most kind and compassionate kids you will ever meet. And she is growing into an incredible young woman!
