My NICU Graduate's Journey
He was born at 25 weeks gestation at 1lb 4oz; with a 10% chance of making it through the night. They performed cpr and gave Carson 5 rounds of epi to keep him alive at birth. He was on oxygen, had many rounds of blood transfusions, a stage 4 brain bleed and was in the NICU for 143 days. He fought for his life and went beyond anyone’s expectations and currently has no real deficits, with the exception of his finger tips that were burnt off because of the epi given at birth. He will be two in 6 months and has been truly a miracle. Even all his specialists have said they have never seen a 25 weeker that has had the outcome he has had.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
I am proud of Carson because of the fight he has had from the start. He has surpassed all expectations and is extremely smart and has caught up and is excelling at all his milestones.
