My NICU Graduate's Journey
Zoe was born at 25 weeks and 6 days and stayed in the NICU for 159 days. She had a very adventurous NICU stay with a couple of surgeries, lots of new diagnoses, and many miracles! Zoe actually coded a few days or so after her second surgery. Her team provided CPR for 13 minutes—which we will forever be grateful for! When it was time for Zoe to come home, she came home with oxygen, a feeding tube, and a central line. She has graduated from her central line and oxygen, but still is dependent on her feeding tube.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
I’m so amazed at how resilient she is! We always hear that her history in her medical chart does not match when professionals look at her. I’m so proud of her that she always tries things—even if she is reluctant. She may give us a “stank face” when she does it, but she is still willing to try new things! She works so hard during all of her therapies and is the happiest little girl!
