My NICU Graduate's Journey
This little boy tried to come on Thanksgiving of 2023 but the dr was able to hold him off for a bit longer. He made his appearance December 22, 2023. He was born two months early. He was not due until February 2024. His lungs were not developed fully. Seeing as he was born so early and I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with him. He had a lot of trouble with his breathing. He was intubated from the moment he came out. Once they got him stabilized we were told he was breathing too fast. He spent his whole first month of life in the NICU. There were a few times where we thought we might get to bring him home but we also had a few set backs. He stayed on a feeding tube pretty much his whole time he was in the NICU. Two days before we got to bring him home they started weaning him with bottle. To get him off his tube. And now we are successfully breastfeeding on demand! We didn’t have to leave with oxygen or anything! We are so happy he has come so far! No issues with his breathing at all.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
What makes us proud of this little man is each and every little achievement that he is able to make!! He does everything so well!! I never knew that someone so little could come as far as he did! He is so curious with everything now. He is our little sunshine.
