NICU Hospital for my journeyAugusta University Children’s Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyJonasia was not born early, but within hours of her birth, she was diagnosed with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension, Subgaleal hemmorage, and Bilateral Pneumothorax. Within hours of her birth she was transferred to a level 3 NICU that was unable to provide the care that she needed, so within 2 days she was transferred to level 4 NICU at Augusta University Children’s Hospital where she would undergo ECMO surgery. She stayed in the hospital for 27 days, making progress each day until she was able to breathe on her own and take a bottle. She has been thriving since and is such a joy to have in our family. We are so thankful to all of the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals that were so brave and knowledgeable in getting her the care that she needed.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? She is truly a fighter. She has a strong personality and marches to the beat of her own drum (with boundaries of course).
