My NICU Graduate's Journey
The day after Johnny was born we found out his artic archway was not wide enough and his left ventricle only had 2 flaps. We were extremely lucky this was found in the hospital as this was a surprise to us. He was going to need open heart surgery. At 6 days old Johnny had open heart surgery, they were able to widen his archway and made the flaps bigger so blood could circulate as it is supposed to. The doctors told us that he could be in for months or weeks it all depended on Johnny at this point. To everyone's surprise Johnny came off his vent in 4 days and was able to leave the hospital in 3 weeks.





What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
Johnny amazes us every single day, with recovering so fast and never giving up when he is trying to learn new things. He is so vibrant and is always laughing and smiling. Johnny came at a time when our family was healing and he continues to bring us so much joy every single day.
