NICU Hospital for my journeyNorth Austin Medical Central
My NICU Graduate's JourneyI went into preterm labor at 19 weeks but had a cerclage that held her in. However the cerclage was failing. I was sent to NAMC, 4 hrs from my home, for a revision. Due to an extreme medical condition I was unable to get an epidural and revision was impossible. I was admitted to the Antepartum unit. I stayed on hospital bed rest for 10 weeks when Evelyn decided to come at 29w1d. Evelyn was 2lbs7oz. She struggled w/ GERD, eating difficulties, and a possible NEC incident. She was eventually transported to a higher level NICU and got a Gtube placed for an extreme oral aversion. She is now almost 17 lbs, still had a gtube but excelling in all other areas of development. She's a Sassy, adventurous, and intelligent toddler that has surprised everyone around her.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? She is brave and never afraid to try new things, except foods! She was walking by 11 months actual, climbing soon after, and talks up a storm.
