My NICU Graduate's Journey
Born 1lb 15oz, at 26 weeks, our sweet boy has been a fighter his whole 13 beautiful years. He tackles life’s obstacles with persistence and determination. Mateo struggled with asthma, and motor skills when he was younger, has had multiple hospitalizations and surgeries and he hates being the smallest of his peers, but he never lets any of that stop him! From the basketball court, or the baseball field, or the middle school talent show and leadership activities, he wants to be a part of it all. We laugh now, knowing that he just couldn’t wait the whole 9 months to get here and get life started. We know he is a very special boy that God gifted us, and we never take for granted how lucky we are.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
Everything he does makes me proud! He is our little miracle. Mateo is kind, funny, curious, adventurous, a tremendous friend, and he keeps trying even when something wants to hold him back.
